Words to Action: Unpacking Antisemitism

We know the rise of anti-Semitism needs to be met with a new, modern response. To begin strengthening our skill set in this area, we're going to explore Words to Action®, an interactive education program designed for Jewish high school and college students to examine their identities and equip them with constructive and effective responses to understand and combat antisemitism and anti-Israel bias in their lives, including: recognizing the implications of antisemitism on oneself and community; responding to stereotypes and prejudice; processing internalized antisemitism; and situating antisemitism inside a broader matrix of oppression.

Mike Posner is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. His debut album, _31 Minutes to Takeoff_, included the US Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single "Cooler than Me" as well as the top 20 single "Please Don't Go." The remix of Posner's single, "I Took A Pill In Ibiza," peaked in the top 10 in 27 countries around the world, including No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Posner has co-written songs and collaborated with artists such as Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, Talib Kweli, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Avicii, and Austin Mahone. He is also a member of the alternative hip-hop and R&B duo, Mansionz, with Matthew Musto (aka Blackbear). For five seasons, Liu also starred in the CBC/Netflix comedy series _Kim’s Convenience_, which went on to win the award for Best Comedy Series at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards. He will next star alongside Mark Wahlberg in _Arthur the King _and most recently completed production on the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller _One True Loves_ opposite Phillipa Soo. Liu’s other film and television credits include ABC’s _Fresh Off the Boat_, _Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens_, NBC’s _Taken_, and Amazon’s _The Expanse_. His memoir, _We Are Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story_, will be released by HarperCollins in May 2022. Born in Harbin, China, Liu immigrated to Canada at the age of five and is fluent in Mandarin. Right On Target: Smashing Glass Ceilings With Alaqua Cox

Alaqua Cox is an up-and-coming actress known for her breakout role as Maya Lopez/Echo within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She made her first debut as Echo in the Disney+ series _Hawkeye_ starring Jeremey Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, which debuted late 2021 to rave reviews. This year, Alaqua is set to star in her own spin-off series for Disney+, _Echo_, which focuses on her character and predates a role in the MCU with the broader Avengers film franchise. Since the announcement of Alaqua’s casting in the MCU, she has become an inspiration to many and continues to be a strong advocate and role model for a variety of communities that have historically been underrepresented in mainstream cinema and media. Cox is Native American, born and raised in the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin, and is of the Menominee and Mohican nation. Born deaf, she is a Wisconsin School for the Deaf graduate and a former athlete in basketball and volleyball, having competed in tournaments organized by the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association.
