Hello, my name is Nat, and I was so lucky to experience CLTC. At CLTC, I was able to learn about my Jewish identity and where I fit in BBYO. Going into CLTC, I was a little worried because I had no idea what to pack or bring. I’ve made a packing list for you so you won’t be as clueless as I was when preparing for CLTC.

A Portable Fan:
Camp can get very hot. Bring a portable fan that you can carry around and use when places get a little too warm. I recommend one from Amazon that not only works as a fan but also has a flashlight for nighttime—especially for grabbing late-night snacks. It also has a portable charger. While camp isn’t a place where we should be using our phones all the time, it’s helpful to have a charger for rainy days when you might want to listen to music or call your family. It’s always good to have one just in case.

Packing Cubes:
When staying in cabins with a lot of other BBGs or Alephs, clothes can easily get mixed up. Having some type of organizer, like packing cubes, helps keep your stuff contained and ensures you don’t lose anything. I also recommend pens from Amazon. They have so many different colors and are a great value for the price.

A Raincoat:
Camp is in the mountains, where it rains at least once a day. You’ll want a raincoat that keeps you warm on chilly days and keeps your head dry. I got mine from North Face, but you can find more affordable options elsewhere. Make sure it’s big enough to fit over your sweatshirts.

A Digital Camera:
I was so lucky my parents got me a digital camera to bring to camp. It was so much fun to take Shabbat photos and capture videos of our day and night activities. These memories are safe on my camera! I got mine from Amazon and recommend getting one there. Be careful with it, though, since it can get damaged easily.

Positive Energy:
There will be days at CLTC when you might not feel your best, but remember that every day is filled with fun and exciting activities. Bringing a positive attitude will help you make the most of your experience!

Can’t wait to see all the BBYO photos from CLTC!

Nat Smookler is a proud BBG and I loves dancing and listening to music.
