In 2026, life in Israel continues under a complex reality shaped by security tensions, social debates, and economic challenges after the Swords of Iron War. The army is still active in protecting the country, while civilians try to keep a normal routine. Despite the difficulties, many people volunteer, help soldiers and families, and support their communities. Israeli society continues to show strength, solidarity, and hope for quieter days.
For us as teenagers in the youth movement Maccabi Tzair, the situation is felt mostly in our daily lives. Our routine has changed a lot. Sometimes we cannot go to school, and we also cannot always have regular activity days at the branch like before.
Because of the security situation, many activities are held on Zoom. Instead of normal meetings, we play games, talk, and sometimes even cook together online to keep the mood positive. School is also on Zoom, with assignments to submit, and it is very hard to study after nights with sirens that come at unexpected hours.
The alarms affect our life at home too. They can happen at any moment. One time I was taking a shower when suddenly there was a siren, and I had to run to the safe room with a towel on my head with my whole family. It was embarrassing, but also funny later, and moments like this show how unpredictable life can be during this time.
This period also makes it harder to meet friends or family who live far away, and we cannot go out like we used to. Still, we try to stay connected and continue our activities in Maccabi Tzair because it gives us a feeling of routine and safety.
We hope the situation will get better soon and that we can go back to normal life school, activities at the branch, trips, and meeting friends without fear of sirens. We hope for quiet and peace.
