Identity Identity, who am I? A BBG. On April 6th 2025, Gold Coast Region #51 was successful in electing their 22nd Regional Morah, and her name is Dani Wolpert. The phrase “My Sister and Sibling B’nai B’rith Girls, my name is _” is one we see in every election. Looking back at my election materials since 2023, I find myself repeating this statement. Not with the fear of losing, but the hope to make a difference, the hope to make MY difference.
Think of the BBG who inspired you. Who made you realize you could be a leader. Who made you realize you belong.
As we approach the graduation of the Class of 2026 and Senior Lives I find myself reminiscing on the seniors who I have watched graduate (but essentially am left feeling like I just lost my big siblings). Senior Life isn’t about necessarily knowing somebody, but it is 1000% about respecting their story. In just one week Gold Coast Region has its Spring Regional Convention.
Back in 2023, the Regional Morah texted me that I just HAD to go to SRC and I hesitantly signed up, but wow was she right. I was the normal MIT, hanging out with the BBGs from my chapter and Alephs from my brother chapter, not really socially expanding, but making the best friendships from my home city. The first night I was exhausted and skipped the Regional Board senior lives, but Saturday night after our Block Party I attended the second half of Regional Board lives.
Turns out the girl who had been texting me constantly about convention and events was giving her life, Morgan Schneider. Morgan served as the 18th and 19th Regional Morah of Gold Coast Region #51, introducing me, as well as 500 other teens, to BBYO. Throughout her eight minute speech I spent the entire time crying. I barely knew this girl, but I heard her story. Summarizing five years into eight minutes, Morgan changed my perspective as she told her story of wins and losses, thanked the 18th and 19th regional boards, and dedicated her love to serving as Gold Coast’s Regional Morah.
From that day on, I aspired to be just like Morgan, to serve with endless enthusiasm and dedication to change the lives of the 1,000 teens that call Gold Coast their home. Returning to my chapter Ha’Ela BBG #247, I ran Morah and lost. I lost seven elections for chapter board, but still wouldn’t give up. That eight minute story serves as persistent encouragement and a reminder of the difference I can make. After many elections and therapeutic post-election ice creams, I won. A few months following I ran for the high and honorable position of Gold Coast’s Regional Morah, and won. There were tears again, but happy tears (a bit of nerves too), but I knew I wouldn’t let this opportunity go to waste. This position has brought me the most incredible counterparts, the 22nd regional board, and friendships I wouldn’t have ever experienced if I hadn’t listened to the 8 minute story.
Listen to Morgan and listen to your seniors. You may lose chapter board, regional board, and even international board, but that doesn’t mean your impact is insignificant. It means you have the opportunity to remain determined and be the teen whose passion wasn’t defined by a position. As much as I can tell everyone to take the words of a senior to heart, it is up to each individual to interpret the meaning of each speech in considering how to leave their legacy. We got here because of them, now the legacy of the organization is in our hands for us to make our impact. As we say goodbye to the Class of 2026, the organization welcomes the next generation of leaders to create the legacy for which we will return to this time next year.
Dani Wolpert is a BBG from Ha’Ela BBG in Gold Coast Region and her favorite singer is Olivia Dean.
