Florida Fall Con was, at first, just an idea for this year. Two years ago it happened on a smaller scale, not logistically the best convention, but still one that people remembered enjoying. So, when I was elected to Gold Coast’s Regional Board as S’gan, I realized I had the chance to bring it back and make it ten times better than the one previously held. I talked with my CO and connected with the other regional S’ganim across Florida, and together we decided that we were going to do this.

Months before anyone packed a bag or stepped onto a bus, the Regional S’ganim were already deep in planning, building programs, structuring schedules, coordinating with teams, and making sure every detail would set the stage for an unforgettable weekend for more than 220 teens across the state. Being part of that planning showed me just how much teamwork, creativity, and drive go into making a convention truly special.

When the weekend finally arrived, every hour of work immediately felt worth it. From the energy as teens ran off the buses, to the rush of everyone changing into their Shabbat outfits for multiple service options, to late-night activities, Fall Con had this vibe that you could feel in every room and teen there. Watching Alephs and BBGs meet new people, step out of their comfort zones, and try new things they had never done before gave the entire weekend a sense of purpose.

My main responsibility was helping lead the Separates, and seeing how much teens enjoyed them was one of the highlights of the weekend. The AZA team worked day and night to refine their script, focusing on the brotherhood, values, and similarities we all share as Alephs. The BBG Separates explored the Butterfly Effect and how one small action can create a huge impact. And BBYO Separates brought everyone together, Alephs and BBGs, doing fun activities and ending in a chant from the Blue and Red book called “UNITED.”

Looking back now, it’s surreal to think about how far we came, from a shared Google Doc and multiple group chats to a full convention with teens already asking for us to bring it back next year. Fall Con reminded me why BBYO conventions matter so much: they bring us together, push us to grow, and create the kinds of memories we talk about long after we’ve left the hotel.

As we head into the rest of the BBYO year and toward the end of 2025, I’m incredibly proud of what we built and even more excited for what’s ahead. If Fall Con proved anything, it’s that Florida BBYO, Gold Coast, Miami, and North Florida is strong, growing, and ready for whatever comes next.

As the only senior among the Florida S’ganim, I’m incredibly grateful to have worked with Sophie, Zoe, Leo, Cash, and Sofia; each of you brought passion and leadership that made Fall Con what it was, and I know you will continue to do amazing things, both in BBYO and beyond, while I’m off in college. A huge thank you as well to the staff and advisors from all three regions whose guidance, support, and hard work helped turn this convention from an idea into an unforgettable reality.

Daniel Reinstein is an Aleph from Gold Coast Region and he loves to play football.
