Five reasons you should go on a summer program.
- Leadership Development: BBYO programs emphasize leadership skills. Some of these include communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, event planning, and public speaking. These skills help grow us to become leaders not only in BBYO but in life.
- Cultural Connection: Participants in summer programs often deepen their understanding of Jewish traditions and values. There are so many different ways of practicing Judaism. During summer programs, you get to experience many different ways of being Jewish. Not one person practices Judaism the same way.
- Travel Opportunities: Many programs involve travel, thus allowing participants to explore places while getting their perspectives and learning about their cultures. BBYO goes to so many places; A few are Italy, Germany, Spain, Ecuador, and Greece.
- Personal Growth: BBYO offers a place to foster confidence and resilience. Some personal growth skills learned are self-confidence, self-awareness, empathy, time management, goal setting, social skills, and cultural awareness.
- Friendship and Community: These programs provide opportunities to build lifelong friendships. Personally, I have gained so many friendships from my BBYO summer experiences. I have gotten to know people from all around the world.
Overall, to anyone considering a BBYO summer experience, my advice would be to just go for it. It is truly one of the best decisions I made
