Part I: A Short Conversation with Noa Kirel

Noa Kirel

Noa Kirel is an Israeli singer-songwriter, actress, model, television host, and a reality television program judge in Israel's Got Talent. She has won five MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Israeli Act from 2017 to 2022. She represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Unicorn", finishing in third place, and is one of Israel’s most popular performance stars today.

Two Friends

Two Friends is the musical creation of longtime companions Matt Halper and Eli Sones, and one of the music industry’s fastest rising EDM stars. Ross Lynch starred in the Netflix series ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ from Greg Berlanti, based on the popular comic. Along with his successful acting career, Ross is the lead singer of the recording and touring group ‘The Driver Era’, which just wrapped a sold-out concert tour. Ross is best known for The Disney Channel’s hit series ‘Austin & Ally’, a role that earned him three Kids Choice Awards for “Favorite TV Actor”, a Teen Choice Award for “Choice TV Actor: Comedy”, and the Number 1 spot on iTunes for the Austin & Ally soundtrack. Ryan Lavarnway

Major League Baseball & Team Israel

Ryan Lavarnway is a retired Major League Baseball catcher, currently working as a broadcaster for the Colorado Rockies. Over his fifteen-year career, Ryan represented eight different teams in the Major Leagues, including the 2013 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. He also proudly represented Israel internationally in both the World Baseball Classic and the Olympics, which earned him recognition in the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.Ryan began his journey to the majors as a standout at Yale University. In 2007, he became the NCAA batting champion by hitting an impressive .467 and set a new Ivy League record with a 25-game hitting streak. He also holds the Ivy League all-time career home run record with 34. After his big-league debut, Ryan excelled on the field, setting multiple MLB and franchise records. Internationally he earned MVP recognition for his play in the World Baseball Classic and was named first ever captain of Team Israel ahead of the 2023 European Championships.

Shoshana Bean, an alumna of BBYO, is starring in Alicia Keys’ upcoming musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ which opens on Broadway later this spring. Most recently she was seen opposite Billy Crystal in Broadway’s ‘Mr. Saturday Night’. Tony and Grammy nominated for her role as Susan Young, she has previously starred on Broadway as Elphaba in ‘Wicked’ and Jenna in ‘Waitress’. Her six independent studio albums and EP’s have landed her on top of the iTunes and Billboard charts, including the peak position of #1 on the Billboard Jazz Chart. She has sold out concerts around the globe and lent her voice to countless films and television shows, a few of which include ‘Sing’, ‘Sing 2’, ‘Enchanted’, ‘Jersey Boys’, ‘Glee’ and ‘Galavant’. She has appeared in ‘Bloodline’, ‘Bill and Ted Face The Music’, and recently filmed a solo concert special for PBS. Bean often lends her talents to meaningful charitable causes and philanthropic campaigns including supporting her very own high school’s performing arts department.

Adam Kantor

Emmy & Grammy Award Winning Actor & Producer

Adam Kantor won an Emmy and a Grammy Award for his performance in the Tony-winning production of ‘THE BAND’S VISIT’ on Broadway, as well as an Outer Critics Circle honor for his performance in ‘DARLING GRENADINE’ at the Roundabout. He recently completed a critically acclaimed run of ‘THE INHERITANCE’ at The Geffen Playhouse, where he was nominated for an LA Drama Critics Circle Award. Previously, on Broadway, Adam starred in ‘FIDDLER ON THE ROOF’, ‘NEXT TO NORMAL’, and ‘RENT’ (final cast, filmed live for Sony Pictures). Adam is a graduate of Northwestern University and the British American Dramatic Academy. He has been a coach for The National High School Music Theatre Awards (“The Jimmy Awards”) since 2014 and was a co-creator of the digital special “SATURDAY NIGHT SEDER”, which raised over $4 million dollars for the CDC Foundation. Kantor is a frequent creative partner to secular charities and Jewish causes, using his talents to build awareness, inspiring fundraising, and promoting justice on an array of issues.

Benj Pasek

Oscar, Tony, Grammy, Golden Globe & Olivier Award Winning Composer, Lyricist & Producer

Benj Pasek is an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Tony-winning composer and lyricist, best known for his songwriting partnership with Justin Paul. Best-known for, ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, which was a wild success on Broadway, receiving nine Tony nominations and winning six, including Best Score and Best Musical, Pasek also wrote for ‘La La Land’s’ soundtrack and composed the music and lyrics for the musical biopic "The Greatest Showman," about P.T. Barnum. The song, ‘This Is Me’ won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and was nominated for Best Original Song at the 90th Academy Awards. An advocate for building bridges across all kinds of communities, he has been an outspoken voice against antisemitism and for LGBTQ equality.

The Honorable Maxwell Frost

U.S. Congressman, FL-10

The first member of Generation Z to be elected to Congress, and the youngest serving member of Congress today, Maxwell Alejandro Frost is proud to represent the people of Central Florida (FL-10) in the United States House of Representatives. As a young Member of Congress and Afro-Latino, Congressman Frost brings a fresh, progressive perspective to an institution formerly out of reach for young, working Black and Latino Americans. In 2016, after years of organizing and advocacy work, Congressman Frost himself became a survivor of gun violence after witnessing a shooting in downtown Orlando. The experience only further committed Frost to fight for commonsense solutions to this senseless loss of life through leadership roles at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and eventually March for Our Lives, where he served as National Organizing Director. In Congress, Frost is committed to representing the people of his hometown in Orlando and Central Florida and being their voice in Washington, D.C. Frost is laser-focused on working to deliver change and results on issues of housing affordability, healthcare, abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, transportation, justice reform, climate change and more.

Nikki Fried

A native of Pakistan, Anila Ali is a former California public school teacher, Muslim philanthropist, author, and women rights advocate. She served as a delegate representing the 45th Congressional District at the Democratic National Convention in 2012 and 2016 – the first Pakistani Muslim woman to be elected from Orange County, California. Anila co-founded CalPak a non-profit promoting education for at-risk girls in Pakistan. The organization sponsors schools in remote areas as well as an online certificate program in conjunction with Cal State Fullerton University. She also co-founded AMMWEC (the American Muslim & Multifaith Women’s Empowerment Council), which strives to empower Muslim women to strengthen their communities, confront bigotry in all its forms, celebrate cultural heritage, and build enduring bonds with fellow Americans of all faiths. Ali has become a vocal ally of Israel and an advocate on behalf of the female victims of the recent Hamas terrorist attack last October.

Joshua Malina

Joshua Malina is an American film and stage actor known for playing Will Bailey on the NBC drama ‘The West Wing’, Jeremy Goodwin on ‘Sports Night’, US Attorney General David Rosen on ‘Scandal’, and Caltech President Siebert on ‘The Big Bang Theory’. He has also had roles in ‘Shameless’, ‘This Is Us’, and Netflix’s ‘Inventing Anna’. Funny, witty, and sharp, Malina has emerged as a top voice on many issues related to American democracy and of concern to the American Jewish community. An active leader in an array of national philanthropies and Jewish organizations, he has been a consistent proponent of Autism Speaks, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, as well as the Jewish community’s response to hunger, various social justice initiatives across the United States and in Israel, antisemitism, and has recently launched a new podcast called ‘Chutzpod!’ that will engage with current events and other whimsical concerns through a Jewish prism.

Meghan McCain is an American television personality, columnist, and author. She has worked for ABC News, Fox News, and MSNBC. She is the daughter of long-time Arizona U.S. Senator and 2008 Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain and U.S. diplomat Cindy McCain. McCain received media attention in her own right for her blog, McCain Blogette. On the blog, she documented life on the John McCain 2008 presidential campaign. In 2009, she became a contributing writer for The Daily Beast. From 2016 to 2017, she co-hosted a daytime talk show Outnumbered. She joined the daytime talk show The View shortly thereafter, co-hosting it until 2021. She is currently a columnist for The Daily Mail who regularly speaks on, writes about, and advocates for strengthening American democracy, against antisemitism, for women’s rights, climate change, stem cell research, gay rights, and in defense of the State of Israel. A Republican who is liberal on some social issues, McCain advocates for a different approach to conservative politics including an agenda that connects with younger Americans.

Jonathan Greenblatt

Jonathan A. Greenblatt is the CEO of ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and its sixth National Director. As chief executive of ADL, Jonathan leads all aspects of the world’s leading anti-hate organization. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and innovative leader with deep experience in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Since becoming CEO, Greenblatt has modernized the ADL while refocusing it on the mission it has had since its founding in 1913: to fight the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Under Greenblatt, the ADL has modernized its operations, engaging leaders from Silicon Valley, civil society, the professional sports world, the entertainment industry, and more to organize business, celebrities, nonprofits, and policy makers to fight rampant racism, antisemitism and extremism. In 2022, Greenblatt released It Could Happen Here, a book that sounds an alarm, warning that hate and systemic violence is gathering momentum in the United States – and that violence on a more catastrophic scale could be just around the corner. Before ADL, Greenblatt served in the White House as Special Assistant to President Obama and Director of the Office of Social Innovation after co-founding and leading successful business and brands like Ethos Water, All for Good, and more.

Reggie Saunders

Vice President of Entertainment, Nike Jordan Division

Reggie Saunders, a legend in the in the fashion and entertainment industry, currently serves as Vice President of Entertainment Marketing at Jordan Brand, a division of Nike. Reggie’s role involves carrying forward Michael Jordan’s legacy, both on and off the court. As a key figure at Jordan Brand, he orchestrates collaborations with celebrities and influencers, shaping the brand’s cultural impact, alongside artists like Travis Scott, DJ Khaled, and Eminem. Prior to joining Nike, Reggie was the Director of Business Development for Sport at Midway Games and had his start in sports marketing with his first professional role as part of the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball franchise. Mr. Silvio Joskowicz serves as the Head of the Zionist Enterprises Department at the World Zionist Organization, or WZO, a non-governmental organization that promotes and educates about Zionism originally founded by Theodor Herzl. Additional, Mr. Joskowicz is a member of the Executive Secretariat of The Zionist Labor Movement. Prior to that, Mr. Joskowicz served as the Head of the Department of Education in the World Zionist Organization, the Secretary General of ‘Habonim Dror’, a Zionist youth movement active in eighteen countries across the globe and served as Chairman of the Council of World Zionist Youth Movements.

Nova Music Festival Survivor

Interested in learning more about what happened on October 7th in southern Israel? BBYO is honored to welcome Dean Tesler, Sharon Anna Yacobi, and other survivors of the October 7th attacks in southern Israel. These special guests are traveling the world to ensure that their testimonies are heard with the hope that their stories will inspire action, especially regarding efforts to free their friends and neighbors who are currently being held hostage.Sharon Anna Yacobi, of Kibbutz Gevim, spent 27 hours in her ‘safe room’ until she was able to flee. During that time, she managed to smuggle her nieces and a friend visiting from Germany to safety, while she maintained contact with her students in nearby towns. Yacobi is now working to share with audiences worldwide what she experienced to help make Israel’s case to the global community.Dean Tesler, a former combat soldier from the Nachal Patrol unit in the Israel Defense Forces, worked as a member of the security team at the Nova music festival. His good friend, Bar Kupershtein, was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and is still held hostage in the Gaza Strip. He has made it his personal mission to tell their story to the world and finds sharing publicly about what happened and about the plight of his friend is helping him heal from the whole ordeal.Other voices from Israel – those that survived and those working to ensure Israel is a stronger and safer country following October’s tragic events – will join with Tesler and Yacobi to offer personal reflections and answer your questions about what happened while also sharing what they think about the future as Israelis, of all backgrounds, unite and move forward together.

Your Pitch Should Be Perfect, But Everything Doesn’t Have to Be

Skylar Astin

Actor

Skylar Astin is a celebrated actor with a varied career across stage and screen. He can currently be seen starring in the hit CBS dramady, ‘So Help Me Todd.’ Skylar recently returned to the theater in the Off-Broadway revival of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ as Seymour, directed by Tony Michael Mayer. He also appeared in the documentary ‘Spring Awakening: Those You’ve Known.’ Astin and the rest of the cast revisited their roles and re-sparked the cultural phenomenon which put Astin on the map and went on to win eight Tony Awards. Astin is perhaps best known for his star turn as Jesse in the hit “Pitch Perfect” franchise. Astin has been a consistent champion of a variety of causes including cancer research, raising funds for children’s hospitals, and families affected by COVID-19.

An Upside Down World: Leadership, Comedy, and Stranger Things

Brett Gelman

Actor & Comedian

Brett Gelman is widely known for his fan-favorite role as ‘Murray Bauman’, an eclectic conspiracy theorist, on Netflix's hit series ‘STRANGER THINGS’, which broke viewership records following its release. Gelman was upped to season regular for ‘STRANGER THINGS’ season four which premiered in May 2022 on Netflix and earned seven Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series. Also on Netflix, Brett can be seen in LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE from Sony opposite Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, and Scoot McNairy. Gelman has recently declared that he thinks ‘Zionism is Sexy’ and has become one of Israel’s most vocal supporters since the Hamas-led terrorist attack on Israel on October 7th. Outspoken against antisemitism, Brett recently traveled to Israel to see how the country has transformed and is working to inspire greater public leadership from Jewish talent across the entertainment industry.
